Northern California Dance Collective is a diverse group of people who love to dance. We are especially interested in the place where dance and community meet, and one of our goals is to create more of these places in our lives. We put on a variety of events, from a three-day winter retreat to our nine-day summer dance camp, all focused on bringing together dance and community, often in beautiful and natural settings.

Our collective backgrounds in dance are as varied as the forms of dance and movement we enjoy, but we have a common love of the freestyle, improvisational, ecstactic and contact improv dance that happens in the Bay Area at places such as Dance Jam and Barefoot Boogie in Berkeley, Freestyle Dance Jam in Pacific Grove, Dance Church in Santa Cruz, Sweat Your Prayers Sausilito, Ecstatic Dance Oakland, and Dance Friday (a Radical Suburban Boogie) in Palo Alto, as well as Dance Home in Santa Monica and Dance New England, the East Coast dance camp that gave birth to NCDC.

We also appreciate the smoke-free, alcohol-free, open, accepting and community-oriented atmosphere each of these dances provides. It is through these dances that many of us have met and come together to create the Northern California Dance Collective. Our first event was in 1993 and our first residential dance camp was in 1995, and we now host up to 200 people at our nine-day camp at a beautiful location in the California wilderness.

NCDC has a Facebook page. Take a look and sign up as a friend at the NCDC Facebook group.
